      Unlike inhaling PM10 and PM2.5, ultrafine particles (UFPs) are produced among other sources by printer toners and automobile exhaust causing a multitude of problems to our bodies. They have the ability to penetrate tissue and can be absorbed directly into the bloodstream from which our body can not easily remove them. Getting exposed means significantly higher chances of oxidative stress, inflammatory mediator release, heart disease and lung cancer.

      Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)

      VOCs are among others released from cigarettes, paints, glues, cleaning supplies, copy machines, air fresheners and fuel emissions. Concentrations of many VOCs are thereby consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors.

      VOCs include a variety of chemicals that can cause eye, nose and throat irritation, shortness of breath, headaches, fatigue, nausea, dizziness and skin problems.
